Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has dismissed any suggestion of a rift with Heung-min Son after the pair clashed during the Premier League win over Everton.

The Spurs duo had to be separated by team-mates on Monday night after an intense disagreement that spilled over following the half-time whistle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Lloris seemingly angered by Son's defensive efforts during a late chance for Everton forward Richarlison.

However, Lloris and Son were pictured embracing in the tunnel shortly before the start of the second half and also shared another hug immediately after the narrow 1-0 victory secured by Giovani Lo Celso's first-half strike that took a huge deflection off Everton defender Michael Keane to leave goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with no chance.

And in his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Tottenham skipper Lloris was eager to play down the incident and insisted that such episodes are merely part and parcel of professional football.

"It just belongs to the changing room," he said.

"Outside, you can say whatever you want, there is a lot of respect between the players in the changing room.

"What happened between me and Sonny is something that is just part of football sometimes. There is no problem at all.

"You can see at the end of the game we are more than happy to be part of the team and to have the three points."

Asked if he reacted because of Richarlison's chance to equalise just before the break, Lloris replied: "Yeah, I think [it was because] we conceded a chance seconds before half-time because we don't make the press properly, but it's part of football.

"We move on."
